Frequently Asked Questions

I'VE NEVER BEEN TO A CHIROPRACTOR, DOES THE TREATMENT HURT?

When people are in pain, almost any treatment that involves moving the body may hurt. Often times people can't move or even get into or out of a car because their muscles are tense and hurt with any movement. We do our best to assess the cause of pain and to use whatever treatment that will be the most comfortable and most effective. Once the pain is relieved, most people find that follow up treatments (chiropractic adjustments) are not only painless, but feel great.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT ON MY 1ST VISIT?

The first part of your visit is a no-charge consultation with Dr. Mike to make sure you’re in the right place to get help. If we feel that you’re a good candidate for chiropractic care, we’ll start on a comprehensive examination. An examination will help us identify areas of concern in your body. If needed, we will refer you out for digital x-rays. Then, your first visit is completed. We typically have you schedule your first and second visits before your consultation, so you’re already set up for a follow-up appointment.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT ON MY 2ND VISIT?

On your next visit, you’ll receive a report of findings from Dr. Mike. We’ll detail the results of the 1st visit examination and any X-rays taken so that you can understand your condition and how we plan to help you. At this time, we encourage you to ask any questions you have, and Dr. Mike will give you his recommendations on how to proceed in order to regain your health. This visit takes 15-30 minutes.

DO YOU TAKE MY INSURANCE?

You have undoubtedly noticed the changes in healthcare in the past several years...and so have we. Low reimbursement for care by insurance companies has led to increased personnel costs in our office. For this reason, we will not accept insurance for your care in our office. We will, however, at your request provide receipts for care that you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. Exceptions to this are if you have been injured in an auto accident and have medical payment on your policy or are represented by an attorney.

IS CHIROPRACTIC SAFE FOR CHILDREN?

Dr. Mike believes all children deserve any healthier start. He specializes in providing chiropractic care for children, using the gentlest touch to make sure their bodies are working at their greatest potential. He’s trained extensively with the Epic Pediatrics program, learning the expertise needed to treat all ages of children. A child’s visit with us is much different from an adult’s, with techniques suited to their smaller size and the nature of their problem.

DO I HAVE TO KEEP GOING AFTER THE 1ST TWO APPOINTMENTS?

We have found that rarely do injuries or conditions completely resolve after only 2 visits. Think of it this way, if you wanted to train for a marathon, could you run 26 miles after only 1 or 2 training runs? Dr. Mike seeks to help people as quickly as time and healing will allow. With chiropractic care and a properly functioning nerve system, healing time for injuries is reduced. Pain often goes away quickly, but that doesn't mean injured joints are healed. So for this reason, continuing care is recommended. Once stable, many people prefer to continue care as part of a health lifestyle because they realize that just like daily brushing their teeth - chiropractic care is good for them!

HOW LONG DOES AN APPOINTMENT TAKE?

We know your time is valuable, so after the 1st and 2nd visit, office visits for spinal adjustments can take a little as a few minutes. However Dr. Mike always allows for extra time if questions arise or additional care is necessary. For this reason, we recommend allowing about 10-15 minutes for your appointments.

DO YOU SUGGEST EXERCISE OR STRETCHING?

People often want to know how to get better faster and what they can do on their own to help. Sometimes taking it easy for a while is helpful, but as soon as possible, customized exercises and stretching are demonstrated and recommended to aid in healing and to help the spine to strengthen and stabilize.

I WAS INJURED IN A CAR ACCIDENT, CAN YOU HELP?

Chiropractic care can be very helpful in reducing pain and helping injuries to heal faster. If you've been in an accident we can help! However we require that you have a medical payment benefit on your auto insurance policy or have representation by an attorney. Auto injures can be quite complicated, but we have experience to help. If you have any additional questions, please don't hesitate to contact us.
